Goa Agenda: HR Connect 2004 — College Information Xavier College of Arts,
Commerce & Science, Principal: Mr. Newman Fernandes
In the year 1985 Goa University was formed and consequently, St. Xavier’s College became an Institution affiliated to the Goa University. In addition to the regular compliment of courses in the three faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce, St. Xavier’s has been granted affiliation to teach Computer Science and Electronics, at the B.Sc. level. Also, with the permission of the University Grants Commission, we have introduced Vocational Degree courses of Computer Applications at the B.Com. level. The Computer Science department offers a B.Sc. in Computer Science, Vocational degree in Computer Applications for B.Com students. These degrees were started from the academic year 1995-1996; the 1st batch passed out in the year 1998. There are 5 full-time teaching staff. We have 2 well-equipped laboratories housing almost 40 computers. These are Intel machines with server Operating Systems like Windows 2000, Windows XP and Red Hat Linux installed. Most of the important software packages like MS Visual Studio, Oracle, SQL Server, Web designing software etc. is loaded and worked on by students. The ever-important Internet is also available St. Xavier’s College is accredited at the four star level by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, an Autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission.
