Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, was started in the year 1989-90 to cater to the students of the Arts and Commerce stream. In the year 1990-91 the science stream was introduced. Inspite of being a relatively young institution, in the past decade its achievements are noteworthy. Since its inception the college has been continuously outperforming at the university results.

In the year 1995-96 the college stood first in the university for T.Y.B.sc, Computer Science. The college not only concentrates on the academic success of the students but also strives for overall development.The college has excellent infrastructure and has a state-of-the art computer laboratory with Internet connectivity.
